JÄGERMEISTER’S SAVE THE NIGHT BACKS SOUTH AFRICA’S SES’FIKILE TO HELP BUILD A SAFER FUTURE FOR NIGHTLIFE
Cape Town, South Africa —27 August 2026: Jägermeister’s global SAVE THE NIGHT initiative is putting South African nightlife on the global international stage, with Cape Town-based Ses’fikile selected as one of only four winners worldwide of the 2025 SAVE THE NIGHT Fund.
Selected from nearly 1,000 applications across 62 countries, Ses’fikile joins projects from the Netherlands, Portugal and Mexico sharing more than €156,000 in funding to develop initiatives designed to make nightlife safer, more inclusive, sustainable and conscious.
For Jägermeister, nightlife has always been about more than what happens on the dance floor. It is about the DJs, artists, promoters, bartenders, photographers, venue teams and communities who come together to create unforgettable nights. Through SAVE THE NIGHT, Jägermeister continues to invest in the people and ideas shaping the future of nightlife.
Born from Cape Town’s creative community, Ses’fikile has established itself as a nightlife experience rooted in music, fashion, creativity and connection. At its heart is a desire to create spaces where people can enjoy themselves, discover something new and build community. Now, with the support of Jägermeister’s SAVE THE NIGHT Fund, Ses’fikile has an opportunity to address one of the most important conversations facing South African nightlife: how people get home safely after the night ends.
The partnership represents a shift in how brands can participate in nightlife culture, moving beyond simply being present at the party to investing in solutions that can positively impact the people who make nightlife possible.
SAVE THE NIGHT was created by Jägermeister as a global commitment to supporting nightlife and the communities behind it. What began as a response to the challenges faced by nightlife professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a broader global platform supporting grassroots ideas and initiatives focused on the future of nightlife. The latest SAVE THE NIGHT Fund invited changemakers from around the world to submit ideas across four key areas: safety, sustainability, conscious nightlife and inclusivity.
Ses’fikile’s selection gives South Africa representation within a global movement seeking practical solutions to some of nightlife’s most pressing challenges.
The initiative will introduce dedicated safe exit and pick-up areas designed to give patrons a more secure environment while waiting for transport home. These areas will include mobile phone charging stations, helping ensure that patrons are able to keep their devices powered while arranging transport, contacting friends and family, or accessing essential services.
Hydration stations providing access to water will also be positioned within designated pick-up areas, allowing patrons to hydrate before beginning their journey home. Safety will be further reinforced through a heightened security presence around exits and designated pick-up points, with particular attention placed on creating safer movement out of the venue and providing additional visibility and support during peak departure periods.
Together, these interventions are intended to create a more considered “last mile” nightlife experience — recognising that patron safety does not end when the music stops or when someone walks through the venue doors.
“South Africa has one of the most exciting and influential nightlife cultures in the world. Our nights create music, fashion, friendships, careers and communities. But creating the best nights also means taking responsibility for what happens before, during and after those nights,” says Ephraim Manana, Senior Culture & Experiential Marketing Manager, Jägermeister South Africa. “Through SAVE THE NIGHT and our support of Ses’fikile, we want to champion an idea born within our own nightlife community that can contribute towards making the night safer for everyone.”
The name Ses’fikile, meaning “we have arrived,” takes on an even greater significance through this collaboration. It represents a generation of South African creatives who are not only participating in nightlife culture but actively thinking about what its future should look like. Through the SAVE THE NIGHT Fund, Ses’fikile will receive financial support as well as mentorship, guidance from the global SAVE THE NIGHT Advisory Board and promotional support through Jägermeister’s global platforms.
“Ses’fikile has always been about community. We want people to come together, experience music and culture, meet each other and leave with memories. But a great night should also end with everyone getting home safely,” says Shakes Mbolekwana, founder of Ses’fikile. “Being selected for the SAVE THE NIGHT Fund gives us an opportunity to take an issue that affects our community and work towards a solution created by people who understand that community.”
The collaboration between Jägermeister’s SAVE THE NIGHT and Ses’fikile opens an important conversation around responsible nightlife and safer journeys home.
Because a memorable night should not end when the music stops.
It should end when everyone gets home safely.
SAVE THE NIGHT.
SAVE THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE NIGHT.
CREATE THE BEST NIGHTS — TODAY AND TOMORROW.
