Consistency, passion, knowledge and hard work are the formula to a successful career. 26 year old Ashley Mkhize is a Dundee born freestyle footballer who has travelled around the world and competed in international competitions.
Inspired by the legendary Ronaldinho, Ashley Mkhize came third at the World Open freestyle football championships in Czech Republic in 2017 and also came fourth at the 2018 African Championships representing South Africa in Nigeria.
“I was inspired by legendary Ronaldinho in 2009 to start freestyle football, I am currently motivated by the dreams I wanna achieve in this sport and that’s what keeps me going.”
As the head of the Freestyle football in Southern Africa Ashley motivates a large number of freestyle footballers especially in Africa as he was able to introduce this unique type of sport.
In order to be a successful freestyle footballer not only do you need patience but you also need to “train hard and watch a lot of tutorial videos.”
Freestyle football is a unique sport and it is still developing in townships especially in South Africa, so having people like Ashley Mkhize pushes upcoming football freestylers that there is light at the end of the tunnel as long as you believe and act on your dreams.
Ashley Mkhize continues to make South Africa proud and that’s only the beginning as there is still more to come.
