Johannesburg, South Africa (29 January 2019) – The Simphiwe Dana congregants will once again worship at the “Church of Dana” when Bassline Live & Radio 2000 present the Simphiwe Dana Annual Congregation live at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City on 02 March 2019.
Set to be explosive, this once a year music communion with the living legend will be quite special as Simphiwe celebrates 15 years since her debut in the music industry. This year will be an intimate congregation with the Firebrand songbird.
This performance on Saturday, 02 March at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, is her first since her successful recovery from vocal surgery and is set to be a very moving and memorable one.
Already lauded as one of the most important singers, cultural activists and fashion icons of our time, Ms Dana performed to a packed show, when she last performed on the Bassline Live series at the Lyric in November 2017.

In the year 2016 Simphiwe made history as she was named African Woman of the Year by New African Woman alongside the likes of Esther Mahlangu, Caster Semenya and Lupita Nyong’o.
This afro-soul musician is seen as one of Africa’s women who are making an impact on the continent and across the globe.
Additionally, Simphiwe Dana was identified as the 21st Icon in Season 3 of 21 Icon South Africa, which aimed to highlight the future of the nation and capturing human achievement through photography, film and narratives.
To date, Simphwie Dana has released four studio albums (Zandisile, One Love Moment on Bantu Biko Street, Kulture Noir , Firebrand and a live CD The Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience) and two live DVDs titled ‘An Evening with Simphiwe Dana’ and the most recently ‘The Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience’.

Simphiwe, known for her grace and conviction, also serves as the first global African ambassador for Amnesty International and the African Union’s Africa Re-imagined Creative Hub (ARCH), a programme that is dedicated to establishing how the arts, culture and heritage sectors can contribute to the AU’s Agenda 2063.
Simphiwe continues to put into action her strong beliefs about socio-economic development and was appointed the ambassador for the Primestars 2015 ‘Step Up 2 A Start Up’ programme which focused on educating grade 10 to 12 pupils on how to become successful entrepreneurs.
15 years into her career, Simphiwe Dana remains a hurricane of success, enlightenment, upliftment and soul-stirring entertainment.
