More about Simphiwe:
In the year 2016 Simphiwe made history as she was named African Woman of the Year by New African Woman alongside the likes of Esther Mahlangu, Caster Semenya and Lupita Nyong’o.

This afro-soul musician is seen as one of Africa’s women who are making an impact on the continent and across the globe.

Additionally, Simphiwe Dana was identified as the 21st Icon in Season 3 of 21 Icon South Africa, which aimed to highlight the future of the nation and capturing human achievement through photography, film and narratives.

To date, Simphwie Dana has released four studio albums (Zandisile, One Love Moment on Bantu Biko Street, Kulture Noir , Firebrand and a live CD The Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience) and two live DVDs titled ‘An Evening with Simphiwe Dana’ and the most recently ‘The Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience’.

Simphiwe Dana also spread her magic into acting when she made her
debut into the field by playing Themba’s mother in the film Themba: A Boy Called Hope

In fact so profound is Simphiwe Dana’s influence that her music has been incorporated into the curriculum at Oxford University, no small feat for even the most established of musician considering that to date Simphiwe has only released 4 studio albums and 2 Live DVD’s.

Simphiwe, known for her grace and conviction, also serves as the first global African ambassador for Amnesty International and the African Union’s Africa Re-imagined Creative Hub (ARCH), a programme that is dedicated to establishing how the arts, culture and heritage sectors can contribute to the AU’s Agenda 2063.

Simphiwe continues to put into action her strong beliefs about socio-economic development and was appointed the ambassador for the Primestars 2015 ‘Step Up 2 A Start Up’ programme which focused on educating grade 10 to 12 pupils on how to become successful entrepreneurs.

15 years into her career, Simphiwe Dana remains a hurricane of success, enlightenment, upliftment and soul-stirring entertainment.

Although with the power of her work it seems fickle to even mention her outstanding fashion sense and beauty, there is no denying that the package that encompasses this star is as monumental as the sum of her shine. Simphiwe Dana is without a doubt, a true queen.

Also on board for this event is stylish urban outfitters Brentwood Clothing, who are standing behind the rich arts and culture scene in SA through this musical series. We are excited to continue growing this relationship with them.
