Lesego Sonnyboy Maleka Popularly known as Spanish Guitar is a 20 year old Tembisa born soccer player who is making a name for himself and hopes to be the change he wants to see in his community by using soccer to motivate other young soccer players around Tembisa.

Raised by a single mother (Rosemary Maleka) Spanish Guitar dedicates all his success to his mother as she was able to rise against all odds so that his son can be able to live his dream “She never gave up when my father left us, she always did her best just to see me happy.”

Lesego started playing soccer at a very young age just to escape the reality that his father left him, with the help from his older brother (Sonnyboy Modiba) Lesego learnt more about soccer and developed the love for soccer.

Having travelled to Spain in 2018 to play the Copa Jodi tournament under Norkem Park high school, Lesego is forever grateful to his coaches Andrew Gifford and Mvuyise Vikwa for being patient and for grooming him to be the best.

Motivated by the likes of Jabu Pule and Scara Ngobese, Lesego Maleka currently plays for Highlands Park as a Center back and the 20 year old doesn’t want to stop there as he still has big dreams for his soccer career.

“My dream is to play overseas ever since I was young it has always been a dream of mine, but I put everything in God’s hands.”

Lesego Sonnyboy Maleka is a true inspiration to all the young soccer players that if you work hard and have patience then it is all possible and that you can achieve whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it.
