On Monday the 30th of July 2018, the head coach of the Lions Swys De bruin named the 25 men who travelled to New Zealand for a Super Rugby finals match against the mighty Crusaders.
This comes after the Lions were up against the Waratahs in the semifinals of a super rugby clash on the 28th of July 2018 last Saturday afternoon.
The Waratahs fought extremely hard however, the lions were the stronger team as they defeated the Waratahs 44-26
Meanwhile in the early morning of the 28th of July 2018 , the Hurricanes were up against the mighty crusaders and suffered a 30-12 loss.
The crusaders who are the defending champions finished top of the overall standing and this victory gave them home ground advantage.
Amongst the chosen men was the Springbok wing Aphiwe Diante who suffered a hamstring injury in last Saturday’s semi-finals match against the Waratahs but on Thursday the 2nd of August 2018 Aphiwe was replaced as he still hasn’t fully recovered.
Carl Brink who missed the last match due to an arm injury when they were playing with the Jaguares also joins the squad,However, De bruin has admitted that it will be a major challenge to break the crusaders.
On Saturday the 4th of August 2018, the Lions and the Crusaders will meet in Christchurch at the Rugby League Park stadium at 09:35am South African time.
