Born and raised in Mamelodi, Pretoria, Lehlohonolo Mashigo said her career started when coach Jack Mosikidi who was the coach of Sampdoria football team at the time asked her to play for his under 13 boys team.
She agreed to the offer and played under coach Jack’s leadership until the end of the season.
The young sensation’s interest in soccer started at a very young age. “Growing up I used to play soccer with my aunts and cousins at home and later on it became a sport that I love”
In 2012, the right winger played for the Happy Hearts football team in the Sasol League. In 2014 she moved and played for TUKS Mamelodi and in the year 2015 she went on to play for the University of Pretoria. However, it didn’t end there. In 2016 she played for the under 17 national team and in the same year she played for TUKS.
As her career kept on booming, opportunities Kept on knocking.
While she was at TUKS in a match against Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies she received a phone call from the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies coach who scouted her talent to join the club.
In the year 2017 the football star played for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies football club and is currently still there. She also played for the under 20 National team.
The 20 year old said she doesn’t really face any challenges in her career but said that: ” As I grow older I have more responsibilities.”
She said the highlight of her career so far was being able to travel to represent South Africa in different countries. “It’s a privilege,” she said.
