“Just be yourself and give time to something that you love and achieve it,” Zuzeni
These are the words of the young, intelligent, vibrant and extremely gorgeous Zuzeni Mncube. Originally from Atteridgeville, Pretoria, Zuzeni Mncube was born on the 18th of December 1998 and went to Pelindaba secondary school.
The netball player who is a first year Journalism student at the Tshwane University of Technology said that the reason why she chose to pursue her dream to study journalism was because she wanted to travel the world while learning new things and providing people with news and information.
“I want to be a qualified journalist who gives the country news that the other journalists do not cover,” she added by saying that: “I chose to study at TUT because I wanted quality education.”
“One powerful being of the society is a woman who is educated and has the power to spread awareness in the society”, she said.
As focused and determined this 19-year-old may be she has a lot up her sleeves. Not only is she fond of education but she is also very passionate about sports.
In the year 2009 while Zuzeni was still in primary school, she participated in ladies football and she conquered the middle field position. However, it does not end there. In that same year she also started playing netball and this saw her sporting career blossoming as she now plays netball for TUT netball team and plays in the center position.
The immediate response to the big question ‘out of all the other female dominated sports why did you choose to play netball?’ was simply: “I play netball because I love it and I enjoy it”, Zuzeni said.
The youngster said she has achieved plenty of things because of netball and amongst these things was the fact that she gets to travel a lot, meeting new people and learning something new every time. The netball team has also won a number of medals and trophies with her there.
When asked who inspires her, the young beauty responded by saying that there are two people that inspires her. The first female who inspires her is Snenhlanhla Khanyile who is a netball player and comes from Pheli.
The second female is Amanda Dlamini who is the captain of Banyana Banyana. She added that these two ladies inspire her because they are good players and they live good lives. “They own their own houses and cars”, Zuzeni explained.
The advice Zuzeni had for young upcoming women in sports who want to be just like her is for them to just be themselves. She said that they should search for what they love and invest their time in improving that thing so that they can achieve their dreams.
She said that women in sports should be heroines and that they should always respect whichever sport it is that they choose to indulge themselves in.
A women performs all duties of a man but a man cannot do all that a woman can do.
