Former president of South Africa Thabo Mbeki addressing students at UNISA, has commanded on the AU’s agreement on establishing a free trade area.

Mbeki cautioned the continent not to be against the domestic market to foreign products that are perceived to be of lower quality than domestic products, may lead to market inefficiencies.

Mbeki said it is going to be a challenging task for the African continent. He said it’s not going to be an easy journey, whilst the AU agree that to some extend, a single currency and a regional central bank will reduce corruption in individual countries.

The big question to Africans is will the politicians greed allow this to happen? should it not be a surprise to see any chaos or renunciation of earlier political pledges when the reality starts to kick in.
